Heart of the Home

Let’s talk kitchens, the ‘Heart of the home.’

We all spend a lot of time in our kitchens, so why not make that space as enjoyable as possible whether you’re a keen cook or not? Those who love to cook are in their element and those of us who don’t love to cook but have to can at least have a pleasant space to drink wine in!

You don’t have to have the worlds biggest kitchen for it to be beautiful. The truth is, when it comes to kitchens, the true beauty is in its practicality.

“Make that space as enjoyable as possible whether you’re a keen cook or not.”

Cupboard Creativity

One of the main features of most kitchens is the cupboards. If you’re lucky enough to have the cupboards of your dreams in both style and design then all that’s left to do is keep them organised. This will make life in the kitchen a lot easier.

If you don’t have the cupboards of your dreams and are on a budget then fear not, you can still make them beautiful. In my experience, the most cost-effective way to do this is to paint them.

Most kitchen cupboards are paintable but this will depend on the material so don’t forget to check with your paint provider. Usually, Eggshell paint should be sufficient. It is durable, tough and normally available in lots of different colours. When painting, preparation is key for the most successful results.

Top Tip: If you are craving a pop of colour but don’t want to commit to the fronts of the cupboards or the walls then painting the insides of the cupboards is a really fun and clever way of doing this.

Keep It Clear

Once your cupboards are beautifully painted, you need to start thinking about the best way to use them. This is where the organisation comes in. Most cupboards will allow you to move the shelves around to suit your needs. You can also use little compartment boxes/stacks for the Marie Kondo’s out there.

Try to be consistent with what is going in your cupboards. Everything needs its place. You don’t want to waste time delving through snack packets when you’re looking for a bowl to put them in.

I would also recommend keeping your kitchen sides as clear as possible. It is not only aesthetically pleasing but more importantly, practical. This is a dream as you get lots more space to cook and keep space for your essentials.

“A room we spend so much time in should also hold the things we love.”

Art Beat

Putting artwork in your kitchen can make a real difference. The secret to choosing art is to go with anything you like, as long as it makes you smile. A room we spend so much time in should also hold the things that we love.

It is hard to display your cherished pieces in a room that sees so much traffic which is why art works so well. or fill your kitchen with practical pieces that you will love, like the Gluggle Jugs or Concerto tableware available at Inle Home.

The main thing is to have a beautiful kitchen. Stylish and organised cupboards with some artwork of your choice on the walls. The subtlest of changes can have the biggest impact. Enjoy!

Take care and stay safe,
